We have been trying to do this for awhile but soccer games, laundry, yard work and everything else stopped us. So on saturday we decided Heck with that we are going to drive the Alpine Loop. We stopped at Mt Timpanogos Cave. Got to look at the tourist shop and grab a drink at their cafe. This is across from the parking lot
This is my grandson looking at where are heading. We still have a long ways to go. The loop itself is 40 miles long without any side trips. If I remember right at the highest point on the road it said it was 8060 feet.
The beautiful aspen line the road and you can see just how narrow it is. Of course you can't see it but in between pics I'm holding onto the seat with white knuckles. Looking off the right is nothing but a shear drop off for several thousands of feet!!!!!
Here is the top of the loop it's downhill from here on.
In all the trips we have taken across the Alpine Loop and the camping trips and hiking trails we have explored we have never gone to Cascade Springs. So here we go!
So we are walking around and looking at the springs and my grandson finds fish in the spring, yep trout. I couldn't see them for nothing until he threw a small pebble and the fish moved a little. What good eyes he has!!!!! (So why can't he see how dirty his room is?)
Then we go around a corner and look at this!
We are maybe 10 feet away from this mother moose. Her calf is behind her so you can't see it. They continued eating totally ignoring everyone going oooooohhhhh.... aaaaahhhhh, isn't nature beautiful!
We decided to leave since it was getting dark and the road is narrow and very curvy and hard to see in the daylight let alone in the dark.
We headed down Provo Canyon and stopped at Bridal Veil Falls. Although the tram is gone, along with the restaurant at the top of the tram, it is still a very beautiful site.!
We get home all warm and fuzzy with happy feelings because of all the beauty we saw in those mountains. Rugged, tall, colorful, amazing you can go on and on describing the majesty of the Alpine Loop area. Then we looked out our front window and this is what we saw......
the beauty of the fall colors and the sun shining making the tops glow with warmth. How blessed I am to see what a lot of people don't get to. Homes, family, friends and freedom to look out my window at all this!
I wonder where we will go next....
